This year's English course takes a definite "jump up" in difficulty level.  You will be reading the works of American authors from 400 years ago to the present.  You will be studying the growth of American literature as it related to historical events, along with noticing the writer's point of view and style. You will learn skills essential to passing the TAKS test so that you can graduate.  You will also be writing a research paper with MLA documentation along with other essays and publishing your work. Memorizing Greek and Latin roots will also help to increase your vocabulary.
